#102 - Don Elgin - Unlock The Ultimate Winner’s Mindset

Don Elgin is a 4 time Paralympic Games Medalist. He won silver at Athens 2004 and bronze in both Athens and the famous Sydney Paralympics in 2000. Outside of the Paralympics, Don’s athletic career speaks for itself with an impressive record at the IPC Athletics World Championships, most notably winning Gold in Berlin. 

But beyond all his amazing sporting accolades, it’s Don’s heart, attitude and story that touches so many people worldwide and that’s what you’re going to hear today. 

Don Shares his emotional story with us of being born without a thumb and a lower part of his leg and the difficulty he faced as a child. From being horrendously bullied to contemplating the method he would take his own life, growing up wasn't easy for Don.   

But the shift in perspective his family gave him kickstarted Don’s athletic career and life mission which now you’ll never meet a happier guy with a stronger mindset. 

This chat had it all. Don shared some amazing tips on goal setting, how to overcome failure, victim mindset and how to break out of it as well as some laughs and highlights of his sporting career. 

He shared behind the scenes of the Sydney Olympic Games and what it is like medaling at an Olympics. But he also shared the brutal downs athletes face when it doesn’t go their way.
